Reducing the size of your metadata repository
As you add and delete items through the various SAS tools, metadata objects get created in the metadata repository. When you delete something the metadata server deletes the pointer to the metadata object but doesn't actually delete the object, so your metadata repository just grows and grows and never reduces.
The larger the metadata repositry the more likelyhood you will experience performance degradations. There are three steps you need to take to reduce the size of your metadata repository:
